The film is jointly produced by Dil Raju and Shirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations. Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur's recently released film, 'The Family Star' earned less than Rs 1 crore at the domestic box office on Thursday, April 11. This is its lowest-ever collection since its release. Directed by Parasuram Petla, the film completed a week in theatres and failed to even touch Rs 25 crore in theatres in India.

Family Star Story: Family Star is a Telugu movie, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles. Govardhan (Vijay Deverakonda), a devoted middle-class individual, juggles the multifaceted responsibilities of his family, prioritising their welfare over personal desires. It is an interesting idea to raise a toast to the star of every middle-class family.
The initial interactions between Govardhan, his family and their new tenant Indu (Mrunal Thakur), supposedly a student at the University of Hyderabad, provide some fun. Each time she calls Govardhan ‘yevandi’, something flutters in him. But the romance, even till the end, is never explored convincingly enough to make us root for them.
His life takes an intriguing turn with the arrival of Idumati (Mrunal Thakur), an Anthropology student, setting the stage for unexpected developments. How does Govardhan’s life change after meeting Indu, and how does he end up in the US?
